Turbo includes four distinct cart options: Mini cart, Page, Refresh, and Checkout. The cart types have separate functions and approach the add-to-cart process differently. Use the Cart portion of the Theme settings to select your cart type, as well as set up a Terms and Conditions checkbox and include a Shipping Rates Estimator.
Select a Cart Type
Select a Cart type through the Cart portion of the Theme settings.
- Open the theme editor (Customize)
- Select Theme settings in the left sidebar
- Open Cart
- Select a Cart type option
- Save
Mini cart
When a customer adds a product to their cart, a smaller version of the cart page in a dropdown format will slide out from the header. The mini cart is also accessible by hovering the cursor over the cart icon.
There are a handful of mini cart-specific settings below the Mini cart heading in the Cart settings. These only apply to the Mini cart option. Cart page settings are edited as a template section.
Mini cart checkout
For customers to proceed to checkout directly from the mini cart, enable the Mini cart checkout setting. Otherwise, a 'go-to-cart' button will display instead.
Show note text box
Include a text field in the mini cart with the Show note text box.
Show total savings
Enable Show total savings to show both the Price and Compare at price for products in the Mini cart.
Cart Message
If you would like a message to appear to your customers in the mini cart, you can add text in the Cart message field.
This is a great way to add your shipping timelines, hours, promo codes, or anything else you'd like your customers to see before they make their purchase
Refresh
When a customer adds an item to their cart, the current page will refresh and the cart icon will update with the count.
Page
When a customer adds an item to their cart, they are redirected to the shop's cart page. This method is great if you'd like your customers to see specific content available on your cart page.
Customize the Cart page by opening the template with the page selector and adjusting the settings included in the sidebar settings.
Show note text box
Include a text field on the cart page with the Show "note" text box.
Show total savings
Enable Show total savings to show both the Price and Compare at price for products on the cart page.
Cart Message
If you would like a message to appear to your customers in the mini cart, you can add text in the Cart message field.

Checkout
This method will lead the customer directly to your checkout page once a product has been added to their cart. This is a great method to achieve a "direct sale" as there is only one action before the checkout stage.
Show lock icon
Enable a lock icon for the checkout button to appear on both the mini cart and the cart page. This subtle option is a great way to build trust and assure customers that your store is secure thanks to Shopify’s built-in SSL feature.
While this may seem like a small change, research and best practices indicate that the simple addition of this icon can help increase conversion rate, by reassuring shoppers that their payment and personal information is secure
Terms and conditions
Enable Show "agree to terms" checkbox to include a checkbox for specific policies, warnings, etc.
Connect the policy, page, or other URL with the "Agree to terms" page field. This displays as a 'View Terms' link where customers can easily access the page.
Shipping rates estimator
Activate Enable shipping rates calculator to include a feature for customers to estimate the shipping fees for their order.
Add your country to the Shipping rates calculator default country selection field.
