Open Theme Updater in your store and complete the following steps to transfer content, customizations, and settings.
To update your theme using Theme Updater, your theme must be supported and registered.
Update your theme
1. Open your Theme Updater app and click on Theme updates in the left sidebar.
2. Locate your theme then click Update theme.
If you see a Register theme button instead, click this to register your theme before updating
3. Add a Theme name for the new, updated theme.
4. Choose one of the two types of theme update options: Install fresh copy for a non-customized copy of the newest version; or AI powered theme update to help merge your previous content and customization with the newer version:
5. Click Update theme to apply the update.
This adds a new theme draft to your Online Store.
The duration for each update varies depending on the level of customization and other factors.
Review the update
A modal window will appear once the update is complete.
This indicates the update was successful. Click Close to dismiss or open the theme editor by clicking Customize theme.
Some files still require a manual update
When modifications to the theme files are unable to transfer automatically, these instances are gathered and listed on the Conflicted Customizations page.
To view a list of adjusted theme file names, scroll down the page. Each file with code conflicts will be marked with a yellow prompt and you can click on Show to see more details of the untransferred adjustments:
Compare file merge conflicts
File merge conflicts are side-by-side comparisons of the theme code. It will show three different options you can use to resolve the conflict: AI suggested resolution, your older theme code, and the default theme's newest version's code.
You can go through each option by clicking the arrow navigators at the bottom:
Click Show code to reveal the code changes.
