I have the exact same question on how to work on setting up the unpublished theme, whether updated product pages or pages in general??? Did OOTSB ever reply or did you figure it out?

    Nope.

I've never been able to solve this problem (but would love to know if you do) and frankly decided to move away from Flex (it's actually not that flexible).  For me, it was a total waste of money and I've never published a site with it.  I became extremely disenchanted with OOTSB once they moved to their paid update model.  One of the attractions and reasons for spending so much on a "premium theme" as an early adopter (I purchased it prior to its release) was the update service (I know I can still get the updates but it's a bit of a pain having to do everything manually).  I'm happy using my Retina theme but if I do ever move from it I will not use OOTSB again.  It is a very different company than the one I first purchased from almost ten years ago.

Hi. Thanks for replying.... I just ran across this article on their site and trying to see if this will enable me to work on my unpublished theme while not changing the live theme open to the public. The only caveat I am seeing is that I will have to duplicate all products/pages with a name variation so I can assign the Flex templates to them. Then when all ready to flip switch, copy/paste all HTML (at least of the product pages that I tweaked) over to the main products so not to screw up inventory numbers... it's a lot of hoop jumping - hopefully it will work though Accessing Unpublished Templates – Out of the Sandbox

Hi, good luck.  I think I did find that article too - much later though.  I hope that works for you.

My concern was having so many new pages that were essentially duplicated just to view them in the flex layout.  If you are a new store that may not be too much hassle.

My store is 10 years old and it was just daunting given the products and pages.  I also was concerned if that meant I'd be generating all-new URLs - another downer for an established site or potentially a lot of repointing of URLs.  Either way a lot of work.  I wish you luck and hope it solves your issue.  Let me know how you make out either way.
