Very slow site - Using Parallax and can't get a speed above 9! Do I need to find a faster theme?

I've compressed & resized images, made sure the theme is up-to-date, removed videos, and only have 2 apps (Judge.me and XeroBridge), yet my speed score is appalling on Parallax.

I keep getting feedback to remove unused Java Script (which means nothing to me), remove render blocking resources, etc

And to Lazy load images......

That all seems like code stuff - I haven't changed any code on the theme.   Is this typical for the Parallax theme?

Anybody have any recommendations?   Do I need to try to find a faster theme?
