If you are trying to upload either the Turbo or Flex theme to your Shopify store and are receiving a zip does not contain a valid theme: missing template
"layout/theme.liquid"
error, all you need to do is simply follow the proper upload instructions:
-
When you purchase Turbo, the theme downloads as a zip file called unzip-me.zip. Once the file is unzipped, a folder called Welcome to Turbo gets created.
There will be a main turbo.zip file, as well as zip files named after the current 6 demo shops (ex: turbo-portland.zip):
So if you want to choose the Seoul theme style, upload the turbo-seoul.zip file. If you want to choose the Tennessee theme style, upload the turbo-tennessee.zip file etc.
If you're looking to start with a clean slate (where layout, theme settings and content will not be based off of any of the demo shops) then you can choose the default turbo.zip file.
More information about uploading the Turbo theme and changing theme styles can be found here -
When you purchase Flex, the theme downloads as a zip file called 'unzip-me-first.zip'. You'll need to unzip this file, which will then create a folder called Welcome to Flex.
Within the Welcome to Flex folder, you will see 13 zip files included:
There will be a main flex.zip file, as well as zip files named after the current 12 demo shops (ex: flex-swagger.zip).
If you're just looking to start fresh with a blank canvas without any placeholder content, simply upload the default flex.zip file to the Shopify admin.
