Main Menu navigation is key to guide your customers around your shop! We often get the question of why my main menu/navigation is appearing on two lines instead of just one across the header section. Here are some suggestions on how to resolve this while making sure your main menu is clear and concise!
1. Reduce number of top level links
If your navigation menu has so many links that it has passed it's one line on the header, there's a good chance that this is overwhelming to people coming on to your site. We suggest making use of the drop-down menu feature and reorganizing your site's navigation by reordering/grouping collections/products/pages into more intuitive categories, resulting in fewer 'top level' links.
2. Reduce length of link titles
Perhaps you only have a few menu items in your navigation but the text is really long. Try and limit the menu links to be one word ex: Shop, About, Gallery
3. Reconsider menu hierarchy
Make use of drop-down menus. Instead of having About, Our Story, Meet the Team all in your navigation as separate menu items, create a drop-down menu for About with About Us, Our Story, and Meet the Team as submenu items. Here are some more tips: Using Drop-down Menus in Shopify Themes
4. Reduce font size
Maybe your menu items in your navigation are too simply too large. Try adjusting to a smaller font size (Under your Typography settings in your Theme Editor).
5. Remove 'Home' link
By default, clicking the logo in your Header will take you back to the homepage, which is a familiar user experience for most visitors - so it is not necessary to include a separate 'Home' link in your navigation.
